The objectives for Y-SEF’s Technical Assistance for Community and Self-Initiated Projects Services include:
- To facilitate access by the poor and marginalized to basic social and economic infrastructure and facilities
- To support and strengthen communities
- Intermediate and link communities to development resources both far and near including best practices that will enhance their well-being.
Interventions through which these programs are implemented are:
- Action research and program evaluation.
- Baseline surveys, community needs assessment and participatory rural appraisal / participatory learning and action (PLA) techniques.
- Supporting rural action/development groups, communities through training and other technical support in the micro-small and medium enterprise sector including rural income generating activities.
- Community and social institutional capacity building through climate resilience community ownership and management training in social infrastructure development (e.g., water, sanitation, health and hygiene (WASH), markets, health and educational facilities), while promoting sustainable development programs paying particular attention to issues relating to women, children, youth and the marginalized.
- Intermediate and linking communities to development resources that promote their well-being and sustainable development.
